Sunday Round-up

My round-up of news, events and stuff and nonsense from the last seven days.
If it’s news to me, it must be news to you!

Bah humbug: One for the Scrooges amongst you – an Anti-Advent Calendar filled with misfortune cookies guaranteed to spread festive gloom. And the black wheat pastry cookies are vegan to boot.

Tasteless: But let’s not get ahead of ourselves – we haven’t reached Halloween yet and the first prize for most tasteless costume comes from the online store forced to remove the Anne Frank costume from its online store.

Trump horrors: Trending online is #Trumpkin as people prepare Donald Trump themed pumpkins ready for Halloween. Meanwhile, a bakery chain in Dundee has also been cashing in with their Angry Orange Biscuits.

And on the Trump theme, the latest conspiracy circulating on the web is that Melania has been replaced by a body-double.

Tex-Mex heist: A Texas man has been charged with stealing $1.2 million worth of fajitas over nine years.

Do you feel lucky? Click to enlarge the image on the right to see if you can spot thirteen unlucky omens. You can find the answers here.

Trigger warning: The publishers of a nursing textbook have been forced to withdraw it after a section intended to help nurses deal with cultural diversity was itself deemed racist by the wider world.

Disgraced: An eagle-eyed military historian has spotted that Captain Birdseye has been demoted to lieutenant, presumably after a secret court-martial.

Brief lives: Veteran actor Roy Dotrice; comedian and Never Mind the Buzzcocks team captain Sean Hughes; Maltese investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia and; appropriately as we near Halloween, Raymond Buckland who popularised Wicca and witchcraft in the US.
